Garridebs In The News
“It is something new for me to see my name in the papers…”
– The Adventure of the Cardboard Box (CARD)
The 43rd Garrideb, Bob Stek, will be presenting a paper at this weekend’s Scintillation of Scions, presented by Watson’ Tin Box, in Linthicum Heights, MD. Later this summer, Stek will be travelling across the pond to participate in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Five times during the 22 day festival, Stek will present his paper, The Strange Friendship of Arthur Conan Doyle and Harry Houdini. For more information on Stek’s talk at the Festival, click here.
Greg Zentz, the 18th Garrideb we featured a few weeks ago, is also an amateur astronomer. Over the years, he gathered many true stories of things that happen to astronomers, both professional and amateur, and from around the world, when they go out to dark skies to observe. Just last month Zentz, authored a 231 page Kindle e-book Telescope Tales: Astronomy in the Wild Places. Priced at $2.99, it can be purchased at Amazon by clicking here.
Our Inquisitor, Denny Dobry, is now a big television star. On June 3rd, Allentown’s WFMZ-TV 69 reporter, Karin Mallet, visited Denny’s recreation of Holmes and Watson’ sitting room at 221b Baker Street and featured it on that night’s newscast as part of their One Tank Trips feature. We can’t show the video in our post but you can see and read all about it by clicking here to go to the television station’s website.
Congratulations to Bob, Greg and Denny!
