The Red Circle of Washington, DC will present the Washington Metro Area theatrical premiere of Sherlock Holmes, starring William Gillette at a single screening at 10 am on Saturday morning, September 26, at the Landmark Bethesda Row Cinema at 7235 Woodmont Avenue in the heart of Bethesda, Maryland. Note that this is the morning after the Red Circle’s dinner meeting on the evening of September 25 (our fellow Garrideb, Robert S. Katz is a co-presenter at that meeting), and discount hotel rooms are available at the Hyatt Regency Bethesda for out-of-towners wishing to stay the night. The theatre is just a short walk from the hotel. It’s a great opportunity to see this restored classic on the big screen. All seats are reserved and tickets will be snapped up quickly, so get yours now right here or at the Bethesda Row Cinema box office. A detailed information sheet and a larger version of the poster are available here. A handful of Garridebs will be at this screening.
The British mini-series “Arthur & George” begins on “Masterpiece Mystery!” on PBS-TV on September 6 (check your local listings for broadcast times). The three-part series features Martin Clunes as Arthur Conan Doyle as he investigates the conviction of George Edalji. You may recall that Clunes was honored with an OBE earlier this year.
The BBC has issued a trailer for the upcoming Sherlock holiday episode that will hopefully be broadcast later this year. Rumors have the fourth season of the show now being delayed until 2017. Enjoy the trailer and see if you notice anything familiar from past productions featuring Holmes and Watson.
