“What sort of burglars are they who steal silver …”

– The Adventure of the Abbey Grange (ABBE)

We’ve shared a few installments of Sherlocko The Monk, a comic strip drawn by Gus Mager from 1910 to 1913 in the Hearst newspapers of the era. This time, we will change it up and offer up a strip of the Hawkshaw the Detective strip that Mager drew from 1913 until 1922 for the World Features Syndicate, which was operated by Joseph Pulitzer, a rival of Hearst.

We are pleased to share the comic strip, The Curious Episode of the Ferris Wheel and the Stolen Silver Bars, that was published on December 7, 1919 in The St. Louis Star. Enjoy!
