Bob Fritsch, the 7th Garrideb, will be giving a presentation – The Tools of Numismatics: Presenting Your Collections in the Money Talks Theater during the American Numismatic Association’s World’s Fair of Money on Tuesday, August 11 at 2P. The WFM is being held again at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont.
The 23rd Garrideb, Alan Ludeking, proves to be worthy of his investiture as the Tottenham Court Strad by sharing this next item. The classical music blog, Interlude, that hopes to inspire readers to embark on their own voyage of musical and cultural discovery, had two recent posts concerning Holmes. First, there is Sherlock Goes to the Opera, which discusses three operatic mentions in the Canon. The second post, Sherlock and Music and Mysteries, discusses a few musical performers in the Canon, such as Sarasate and Mendelsohn who we have discussed previously. Both posts are interesting reads and worth a few minutes of your time.
The John H Watson Society has announced their upcoming Third Annual John H Watson Canonical Treasure Hunt that will take place during the entire month of August. Details can be found here. This 100 question quiz is extremely challenging and involves encryption, obscure references, geographic and biologic inferences, people, objects, dates, unique terminology, and all manner of canonical knowledge. Individuals and teams of 2-5 people can compete for prizes! Our own 42nd Garrideb and Inquisitor, Denny Dobry, has been the individual category winner the first two years. Can he make it three in a row?
