In today’s modern age, it is becoming more common for folks to not carry any cash with them. We’ve done numerous posts on this site about prepaid phone cards. With marketing efforts, such as gift or reward cards, it is often possible to purchase items without cash, checks or a credit card.

Some enterprising person (not me!) arranged for three Sherlockian-named Starbucks Rewards Gold Cards to be issued. These three cards were issued to Sherlock Holmes, Dr. John Watson and Benedict Cumberbatch.
