Your editor is also a collector of Sherlockian lapel pins and recently came across the above pictured lapel pin. The Summer and Winter Olympic Games are a boon to pin collectors, with hundreds of pins being issued to commemorate the Games by various sponsors, the organizing committees and national teams.

For the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, the credit card issuer Visa was a worldwide sponsor and issued over two dozen pins, including one that featured Sherlock Holmes.

The 34mm by 36mm pin was released in May 2012 and was manufactured in China by Aminco.

  1. The Visa Holmes pin is exceedingly rare. On those infrequent occasions that it does appear on Ebay it can easily go for $50 or better, And, yes, I do have one!
